I am trying to regain control over my life I feel
I have lost it..
so this has been my outlet of late..
It isn't a good thing to wake up one day and reality hit you..
Someone else is at the Wheel..
and YOU don't like the person in charge.
regaining control
These are some places where I have started..
Continual prayer. I need to know I am not alone in my new endeavors to change
Review my goals weekly to determine progress. When I complete goals I will set new goals at a higher level.
Keep a journal of my daily activities. Notice what precedes a decline in control. Try to avoid these things if possible. Increase activities that make ME happy.
Practice positive self-talk techniques. Instead of thinking,"I'm already late, so there's no point in trying anymore." think, "This is late, but I'm getting it done and following through with a commitment."
Slow my response time by taking several deep, cleansing breaths before reacting. I am an OVER reactor..
I need to take a step back.. in this area
Find an outlet for stress. I am also, considering stress-reducing activities, such as yoga.
Start meditation every day. I had been doing this at one point my sister started me
with some meditation books, and Cd's and now I have decided It is paramount in
my mental health.
Reading the books I know bring me peace.
If you have any Ideas for more control in your lives that might help me.
let me know!

Thank you LJ once again for your example, I was hurt by a facebook post the other day, and I come here to find refuge and I always find it! Seems we may be on the same path most times. Thank you! Love you

I'm loving all of your suggestions for regaining control! I'm soooo needing this right now in my own life.
Lots of changes going on for me (and I'm not good with change!)
I especially like your first suggestion... continual prayer.

Not to burst your bubble Gramee, but be careful of getting "over"-inspired (one of my downfalls)...I overwhelm myself with too many good ideas at once and end up feeling more out of control than ever. If I were you and I had to pick just one area to concentrate on FIRST, I would pick everyday scripture study - intense scripture study - immerse- myself (like Pres. Kimball recommended) scripture study. It works like MAGIC....all the rest will come - easily.

sounds like you are starting with some wonderful techniques!
I have a personality that has to be in control of everything...even things I can't control. It is hard to let somethings just go, but healthy too.
Balance is the key...now if I could only just find that KEY!!!! ;) ha!

I too have a need for control of all things in my life--and am constantly frustrated. Who says these kids should have free agency? Maybe when they're about 35 and have some sense! I am also an over-reactor. Might I suggest something more physical than yoga for stress relief? I'm considering a punching bag--seriously.
