  Grumpy is away on business again, Arlington Heights, IL for a couple of days then finishing up in  New Hope, MN.  Very cold places..it was 80* here on thanksgiving..
 When grumpy goes out of town.. we just don't eat well.



No real meal cooking while he is gone...

I made a great cookie recipe today.
I probably should have made turkey soup! ..

I guess tomorrow I will make homemade noodles
The recipe calls for store bought..

Vanilla chips and macadamia nuts are a delightful duo in these rich, buttery morsels. They are a nice change from chocolate chip cookies.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup plus 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 jar (3-1/2 ounces) macadamia nuts, chopped
  • 1 cup vanilla or white chips

Directions

  • In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Combine flour and baking soda; gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well. Stir in nuts and vanilla chips.
  • Drop by heaping teaspoonfuls 2 in. apart onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 350° for 10-12 minutes or until golden brown. Cool for 1 minute before removing to wire racks to cool completely. Yield: about 4-1/2 dozen.

Turkey Noodle Soup

Prep: 20 min. Cook: 1-1/4 hours

Ingredients

  • 9 cups homemade turkey or chicken broth
  • 4 medium carrots, shredded
  • 3 celery ribs, sliced
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon rubbed sage
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 3 whole cloves
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 2 cups diced cooked turkey
  • 1 cup uncooked noodles
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley

Directions

  • In a large kettle or Dutch oven, combine the first six ingredients. Tie cloves and bay leaf in a cheesecloth bag and add to kettle; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 1 hour. Add turkey, macaroni and parsley; cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes or until the macaroni is tender and the soup is heated through. Discard spice bag. Yield: 6 servings (3 quarts).
