Here is the setting for you.. you are in Walmart and your 2-year-old is tired and crying but you are trying to get the last of your shopping done.
A guy in your aisle tells you that “if you don’t shut the baby up, I will shut her up for you.” You ignore him because who is going to follow through with a threat like that.. in a Walmart of all places.
Then, when your little girl continues to cry into the next aisle, this strange man grabs your baby and slaps her across the face four or five times. That’s what 61-year-old Roger Stephens did in a Georgia Walmart.
The article on CNN doesn’t tell us how the mother reacted , Was she stunned did she freeze? I certainly would have cursed him out and aggressively gone after him.Maybe kicked him where it counts.
Police said he hit her four or five times. "See, I told you I would shut her up," the suspect allegedly told the mother.
Authorities described "slight redness" to the toddler's face. Before he was arrested, Stephens apologized to the mother for striking the girl.
What is this world coming to?
he looks mean... I wonder if they said "for this mug shot look your meanest!" lol
CINCINNATI (Sept. 16) — Police say a woman has been arrested for allegedly spanking another person's 2-year-old son in a Cincinnati store.

Gloria Ballard was due in a Hamilton County on Wednesday to face an assault charge.
Cincinnati police say the toddler said something that apparently annoyed Ballard inside a Salvation Army store on Tuesday. Police say she then told the boy's mother she didn't know how to take care of her son, put him over her knee, and spanked him three times.
Police say the two women didn't know each other and that the 44-year-old Ballard wasn't given permission to touch the child.
There was no attorney listed for Ballardthoughts?

I cannot believe this actually happened!!! What a monster!! As the mother of 4 small kids there have ben numerous times when we have been in public & one or more of my kids was cranky, crying or even on occasion throwing a fit. If someone had done to one of my kids what this man did I would have been sorely tempted to kick the crap out of him. You do NOT touch or hurt a child. ANY CHILD!!

CRAZY!! If I were that mother--that guy would have been kicked in the nuts. And then possibly a black eye and fat lip. I would have attacked him. Same goes for the lady. No one has any right to touch your child--what the crap?!

What a psycho man.
I would have beat the crap outta him. Jerk Face.

First this goes right along with my post today and what the world is coming too. These cases are a bit more severe however.
These are criminal acts in my eyes.
You just DO NOT touch other peoples children.

Absolutely and completely out of line. I don't care how horrible those kids were behaving, it is not a stranger's place to touch them. Ever.

I usually go shopping with Thomas so you know that man would have been in a lot of trouble. I can't believe someone would do that. Crazy!

My thoughts, "What in the heck is the world coming to?!!"
Sad...

I am floored by these stories! If someone DARED to lay a hand on my kids when they were little like that or my granddaughter. They would be sorry for the rest of their now physically limited life.
That's some crazy stuff!

When I heard about this on the radio. I could not believe what I was hearing. You never know who you are standing next to in the store. It made me mad and upset hearing about it, I cannot imagine the family.
Thank You for checking on me. I have MISSED you!!!

Wow. Just...wow.
I don't know exactly what I would do, but I promise you there would be lots of yelling on my part!

I heard these stories and was so floored. I would have definitely reacted to either one of these cases...so uncalled for. We have all seen the parent with the uncontrollably crying kid or been the parent of the uncontrollably crying kid! I dont think anything of it...maybe the kid (mine or someone else's)is just having one of those days. And its the parents place to deal with it how they need to. Sometimes its better to just let them throw the fit and sometimes its better to remove them from the store so that they can calm down and come in or maybe come back later. How scary for those children to be hit, let alone by strangers!!

are you serious!!! that is crazy...I do not care anymore if kids cry in public (since I've been a parent)...I'm thankfully happy it is not my own kid...and I say a little prayer for that mother....it is hard...and sometimes kids cry...I wanted to smack a lady on an airplane once for giving me bad looks because my 2 year old was crying....on a LONG flight...i just told her to turn her face around it's not helping and gave her a dirty look....I hate people who are not tolerable!

If anyone dared to lay a hand on my child like that, he would have had to deal with me too!
