As we near Kenners birthday I am reminded November is Prematurity Awareness month.Having Had 2 grandbabies born Premature, and Kenner not making it. This is an important issue in our life.
13 million babies worldwide who are born prematurely each year, a half a million of them in our country.
You may know one of them.It could be your baby, or the baby of someone close to you. A baby who was born too soon and had to fight, just to survive — and maybe didn't.

I had no idea this group existed! Thanks for sharing. Our grandson Grant was born at 27 weeks weighing 2 lbs, 8 oz. He spent 3 months in the hospital and came home on his original due date. Grant is now a happy, healthy 2-year-old weighing about 30 lbs with a smile that lights up a room!

Alene is beautiful. I have a friend who suffered 12 miscarriages before she had her first & then she had another before the second. She's now fortunate enough to be pregnant w/ her 4th although she has to take certain meds in order for any of her pregnancies to survive.
I will never forget the baby that was born a couple of days after my son (also a NICU baby although he was lg, overdue & very, very sick). This baby was so tiny & the dad was so desperate & overjoyed. So very hard to describe. The baby was too young though & didn't make it. The rest of us moms just went into the breast pump room & sobbed.

I'm sorry for your family's loss. It's heartbreaking every time I do photos for these families, but I am so glad I'm able to offer the service. NILMDTS.org (Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep) is a great organization. Alene is a beautiful little girl, enjoy her!

I, too like Beverly, had no idea the group existed. I imagine it is very nice for those families who have dealt with this.
My nephew 25 years ago, was born premature, and we are glad to have them. We are also blessed that his life long issues have been fairly manageable. Others have not been so lucky.

Oh, GRAMEE, this is such a painful experience and inspiring that there are groups for support. My Hubs lost a full term baby sister ( still born )and his mother is still haunted by that loss, 59 years later.
A few years ago, our Relief Society made hundreds of burial gowns and tiny quilts for preemie babies who died and their families were so grateful along with the nurses at local hospitals who had spent their own money outfitting these babies for a few years. I feel blessed to have made a few of those gowns and quilts in support of families during such a difficult time.
I pray that your family will find comfort during this time of rememberence of sweet little Kenner.
